Spellbound

Beware what you wish for. Spellbound explores the dark side of magic, where hexes are cast, potions bubble and no one escapes untouched. John Fannin’s “Legends of Bafe” summons the ancient powers, and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put a Spell on You” lays the first curse. Julie Giroux’s “Bookmarks from Japan” casts a mysterious, otherworldly trance before the magic turns wicked with “Love Potion No. 9” and Britney Spears’ “Toxic.” There is no breaking this spell: by the final note, the dark magic has taken over completely.
